Turning a New Leaf

Thu Jun 5, 2008, 8:47 PM
Ok, time to get rid of that overdue, depressing journal entry.......

Well, hi folks!
Appearing once again, and this time, I -HAVE- got some new material ready for updating. They're just sketches, but are different from what I was doing several years ago. I guess I'm marking time until I can get back into the freelance field and do some fun conceptual stuff, but for now, I only have time for doodles.

Anyway, as you can tell from the heading (and, OMG, one full year from my last entry), I turned the dreaded 3-0 today. < cue music > Don't know whether to curl up in a corner and cry over my lost youth or attack the new decade with inspired vigor. Either way, I'm hoping my impending 30's will be more productive than my 20's. Time will only tell.

I've also been watching lots of movies and playing games recently o_O; Kung Fu Panda's on the list, and I'm tripping over the first chapter in the Lego Indiana Jones game (buy it, you know you want to. Oooo PS3 goodness, must play more..... I've grown fascinated with conceptual design, and is definitely a career path I'm planning to explore in the near future.

Well kiddies, that's all for now. I've got several buttery nipples waiting for consumption, as I'm planning to drink myself into a drunken stupor and forget to forget my birthday. Ahahaha :\ Have a good one!

  • Listening to: Duff-ay
  • Reading: Keys to the Kingdom
  • Watching: my nail polish dry
  • Playing: LEGO Indiana Jones
  • Eating: tiramisu
  • Drinking: buttery nipples, baby

A Sad Surprise from the Past

Sat Nov 17, 2007, 3:27 PM
After coming home from work, I opened my morning paper to discovery an hold high school classmate of mine who committed suicide a year ago. Needless to say, I was shell-shocked. I have a great memories of him because he had such an easy-going and friendly personality. In the decade after graduating, I've run into him maybe several times, and during those brief moments I assumed that he, like others from my class, was doing alright. The news was devastating, but I can't imagine how it must've been for his family and close friends.

I'm very sad and very angry, because a part of me can't understand why a person could be psychologically and emotionally able to commit to such a decision. Sure, the world can be a crappy place, and sometimes trying to make a life for yourself is an uphill battle, but there are some things worthwhile.

A regrettable piece of news, and hopefully the next entry will be more positive.

I STILL ATN'T DEAD

As the aforementioned entry mentioned, "just very very busy".

3 years and one birthday later, life "in general" has continued it's chaotic spiral and I've yet to find the time to actually sit down and sketch for myself. Yes, pathetic excuses I know, but that's the sick reality of it all (Parents call this excuse "earning a living." ;)) I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels the same way.

For the curious who aren't in the know:
I work full time as an in-house illustrator for a company called The Madden Corporation (formerly known as Island Heritage). It's a large publishing company here in Hawaii, covering a broad range of products that cater to the tourist market and fine-living. Basically I sit on my tush all day and draw and design.

All day.

Fortunately, the type of design I do is very different from my personal artwork. Which is a good thing, because I'd get sick of illustrating pretty quickly. Unfortunately, designing demands long hours, and after awhile, your creativity gets sapped. And weekends are basically recuperative periods.

So while I do love to draw, paint, and be artistically merry, finding the time to do art for myself is at a standstill. Hopefully I'll rev up to produce something I can post up. But for now, please excuse the cobwebs and dust bunny colonies--they'll be gone soon, I hope.

Lots of Aloha,
Anneth

Another Year Turns.......

To quote the inestimable Granny Weatherwax:

I A'nt Dead

Just completed a big project--very tuckered out *note inane rambling and blatant disregard for punctuation*...Updates will appear in the form of sketches, for now, until I can get the painterly ball rolling.

 to everyone,

Devious Journal Entry

ARGH

Updating this weekend, but just needed to post this up......

Savvy browsers will have heard of those sh!ts-for-brains "hackers" who are airing their dirty laundry on the 'Net with a hacker war. Consequently, both my anneth_lagamo@hotmail.com and anneth@sairyn.com accounts are being flooded with returned mails infected with the NetSky (can't even come up with an original name, *rolls eyes*) and MyDoom virus via attatchments.

**IF, FOR SOME PARTICULAR REASON, YOU RECIEVE AN EMAIL W/ATTATCHMENTS FROM EITHER OF THESE ADDRESSES, DELETE IT IMMEDIATELY!**

I'll most likely be cancelling these and starting anew. Will keep you posted.

*Hugs n Aloha to All*
